The Viewer explores the visualization and comprehension strategies of the artwork, through an installation that consists of a “virtual viewer” positioned in front of the audience. It contains an interactive device that establishes a relation of visual communication with the audience and imitates their behavior in front of the art piece.
The Viewer deals with the artwork–audience communication by means of a simple and straightforward, but at the same time, intense interaction. The “virtual viewer” acts as a mirror, it visually controls the audience to reproduce their movements.
The project tries to invert the usual artwork-viewer relationship, being in this case the piece who watches the audience, enabling the viewer to become aware of his own reaction/behavior in front of a work of art.
